Two More Wins For VHA

The Vidalia Heritage Academy Eagles baseball team improved their record to 7-0-1 last week with win over Gatewood Academy and Claxton. vs. Gatewood

It was a battle with the Gators of Gatewood Academy last Monday. The game was a pitching dual with neither team scoring a run over the first five innings of the game. The only run of the game came in the bottom of the sixth inning off of a solo home run by Ledger Curl. That gave the Eagles a 1-0 win.

JT Cofield got the win on the mound and pitched a complete game one-hitter. He struck out nine batters and only gave up one walk in the game.

vs. Claxton

VHA rolled over the Tigers of Claxton on Friday. Claxton took the early lead with a run in the bottom of the first inning, but in the top of the second Jake Adams drove in a run for VHA to tie the game at 1-1.

Cofield drove in a run in the top of the third inning to put VHA on top, 2-1, and then they added three more in the fourth for a 5-1 lead. The Eagles scored three more in the fifth inning to take an 8-1 lead. Claxton plated a run in the bottom of the inning to make it 8-2, but the Eagles closed it out with two more in the top of the seventh on the way to a 10-2 over the Tigers.

Adams was the winning pitcher for VHA. Cofield went 3-5 in the game at the plate.

This week the Eagles were at Habersham School on Monday and hosted David Emanuel Academy on Tuesday after presstime. They will be back in action on Thursday at Gatewood at 4:30 p.m., and then on Friday they will be at DEA at 6:00 p.m.
