Vikings Baseball Playing Well

The Treutlen County High School Vikings baseball team improved their early season record to 3-1 last week as they picked up wins over Jenkins County and Portal. vs. Jenkins

Jenkins got on the board first with two runs in the bottom of the third inning, and then they added another in the fourth to take a 3-0 lead over the Vikings.

Treutlen answered with two runs in the top of the fifth inning, and then in the top of the seventh, the plated two more as they took the lead, 4-3 over the War Eagles. Treutlen held in the bottom of the final inning to take the win by that score.

Treutlen was led by Acie Dickens and Chad Bright with three hits each. vs. Portal

Treutlen picked up a win on Friday on the road against the Panthers of Portal. Treutlen got on the board first with a run in the top of the first inning, and they made it 2-0 with another run in the top of the third. Portal tied the game in the fifth inning with two runs, but the Vikings answered in the top of the sixth with a run to take the lead back, 3-2. The Vikings closed out the game with two more runs in the seventh inning on the way to a 5-2 victory.

This week the Vikings played Portal on Tuesday after presstime, and will be back in action on Thursday when they host Twiggs County at 6:00 p.m. and then on Friday Jenkins County comes to town at 6:00 p.m.
