A Middle Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office Chief Investigator was involved in an accident that left him wrecked in front of Lakeview Memorial Gardens on Thursday, February 22.

The Toombs County 911 Dispatch received a call stating that two vehicles were involved in a wreck in front of Lakeview Memorial Gardens on GA Hwy 15 at approximately 1:18 p.m. on Thursday. Upon arrival on scene, deputies found a black Dodge Charger – driven by Chief Investigator Rocky Davis – in the northbound ditch, along with a black Ford Explorer – driven by Robert Long, Jr., of Lyons.

Based on preliminary information, deputies believe that Davis was traveling north along the highway as Long was traveling south. Long was following behind a commercial trash truck and decided to enter the northbound lane to pass, though the area was a no-passing zone and near a hilltop.

Seeing Davis approaching, Long applied his brakes and began to skid out of control; Davis attempted to avoid the collision by exiting the roadway, but Long’s vehicle struck Davis’s vehicle when skidding.

Neither of the men was severely injured, appearing to only have some soreness and bruising.

The crash has been turned over to Georgia State Patrol Post 18 (Reidsville) for further investigation.
