The Georgia State Patrol is investigating a crash between a 2016 Ford Focus and a semi-truck that closed the intersection of Sawmill Road (GA HWY 292) and James Street (GA HWY 15) in Higgston on Tuesday, February 6.

Kaleb Lee Waters, 18, of Glenwood, was driving the Ford Focus and traveling east on Sawmill Road, as Larry Darnell Franklin, 45, of Fresno, California, was traveling north on James Street in a semi-truck. The pair approached the intersection around the same time, but Waters’ brakes failed at the road’s stop sign, causing him to enter Franklin’s path. Franklin struck Waters along the right side of his vehicle, and the pair continued to travel north for 47 feet before coming to an uncontrolled stop.

No one was injured or transported for further medical attention in the accident.
