Brewton-Parker College Men’s Wrestling traveled to Cleveland, Ga. for the Appalachian Athletic Conference Duals. The (RV) Barons finished with a 2-1 record taking wins over St. Andrews (N.C.) and Pikeville (Ky.) in the crossover event, taking on a few of teams from the northern division of the AAC.

Vs. No. 16 Reinhardt

Starting the dual at the 125-pound weight class, Gabriel Evans fell in 1:35 to No. 10 Angel Banda to put the Barons into a 6-0 deficit. Reinhardt would then go up 11-0 after Keyshaun Taylor took an 18-2 tech fall loss to Easton Bishop.

BPC dropped the next three weight classes to pins to fall behind 29-0. In 141, Kullum Irvin fell in 1:48 to Domenico DiGena, Bradley Owens fell in 2:49 to No. 15 Dawson Bates, and Robert Keyhea fell in 1:23 to No. 19 Devin Griffen.

The Barons took a forfeit at 165 before Justin Grant gave BPC their first points of the dual at 174. Grant picked up a 4:00 fall over Caleb Santiago to cut Reinhardt’s lead down to 35-6. Charlie Henkel took an 11-2 major decision loss to Jonathon Paramore before Thomas Crawford was dropped in a 23-4 tech fall to No. 12 Curtis Thomas.

No. 13 Wilkinson Saul picked up a 14-5 tech fall win over Armond Jones to finish the dual 44-10 in Reinhardt’s favor.

Bre w t o n – Pa r k e r started the dual behind 6-0, as Evans fell in 1:03 to Caleb Haynes at 125. Taylor brought the Barons within one point in the 133-pound weight class with a 19-4 tech fall over Gerard Ricciuto. St. Andrews responded by taking a 16-0 tech fall over Conner Wright to take an 11-5 lead.

Irvin tied the dual up at 11-11 with a 1:11 fall over Terry Adams. Owens gave the Barons a threepoint lead with a 7-5 decision win over Teracqus Young. At the 165-pound weight class, Keyhea was dropped in a 2:10 fall by continued from page

At 174, Grant ended the match early with a big 51-second pin over Zachary Palombaro, before Jesus Grijalva gathered a forfeit win at 184 to give BPC a 26-17 lead going into the last two matches.

Henkel picked up a 3:41 fall over Dakota Johnson at the 197-pound division and was followed by a fall in 1:09 by Saul over Logan Sage to secure the 38-17 victory over St. Andrews.

Vs. Pikeville (Ky.)

In the dual, Pikeville gave up forfeits in the first three weight classes for the Barons to take an 18-0 lead. At 149, Owens picked up a pin in 46 seconds over Tagge Fry to give BPC six more points, before gaining another forfeit win at 157 and double forfeiting at 165.

Grijalva produced a 3:38 fall over Chase Price to improve the BPC’s lead to 36-0. The Barons gathered 12 more points with forfeit wins at 184 and 197. Pikeville picked up six points in the last match of the dual as Levi Shaw fell in nine seconds to Reginald Whyte to close the dual with Brewton-Parker winning 48-6.

BPC Men’s Wrestling will return to Cleveland, Ga. for a dual with Truett McConnell (Ga.) on Feb. 2 at 2:00 p.m. ET.
