VHS Chess Kicks Off Season

The Vidalia High School Chess Club players competed in the Swainsboro Tournament held on January 20, 2024.

Chess Club member Ethan Hart won 1st place with five wins and no losses, Nate Landon finished 2nd with four wins and only one loss. Aiden Ellis and Adam Foster also played well in the tournament.

The VHS Chess Team plans to compete at East Georgia College on January 27, and back at Swainsboro on March 2, in preparation for the State Tournament at Lawrenceville in mid-March.

In 2023, the VHS team won the South Georgia Region Title and finished in the Top Four at the Georgia State Tournament; there are 4 players returning from that team, and they are preparing to finish higher at State this year.
