Vikings Split With Wheeler

The Treutlen County High School Vikings bas ketball teams took on Wheeler County on Fri day and split their games, and then they hosted East Laurens on Satur day with the Vikings falling in both games.

It was a close battle with the Lady Vikings pulling out the win. Treutlen led the game 15-13 at the end of the first period. In the second the two teams kept pace as Treutlen took a 27-24 lead into halftime.

In the third quarter Treutlen took control of the game as they outscored Wheeler, 14-5, giving them a 41-29 lead heading to the fourth. In that final period Wheeler made a furious comeback, outscoring Treutlen 18-7. That closed the game to one point, with Treutlen holding on to take a 4847 win.

Boys vs. Wheeler

The boys game was also a close one, with this game decided by just two points, but with Wheeler coming out on top.

Treutlen held the early lead and were up 14-11 at the end of the first period. Wheeler came storming back and took a 32-26 lead into halftime.

In the third quarter Wheeler extended their lead to 52-38. But in the fourth Treutlen came back and made it a game, but fell just short of the Bulldogs, 67-65. vs. E. Laurens

The Lady Vikings

had a tough time against the Lady Falcons. Treutlen dropped their game, 69-30, to East Laurens.

The boys kept it closer, but still came up on the short side of the score. Treutlen was on top 26-23 at the end of the first, but the Falcons took the lead in the second and were up 50-40 at halftime.

In the third Treutlen closed the lead to 70-63, but they could not overcome the deficit as the Vikings lost the game, 86- 78.

This week Treutlen was at home against ECI on Tuesday after presstime. They will be back in action on Friday at home against Hawkins – ville at 6:00 p.m., and then on Saturday they will host Jeff Davis at 6:00 p.m.
