Hurricane Helene totally destroyed the Farmers Furniture Store location in Soperton and on May 21 the company will celebrate the Grand Re-Opening of the completely rebuilt 19,000 sq. ft. showroom at 1151 Second Street. The Soperton store is historically significant as it was the first Farmers store opened by company founder Sherwin Glass in 1949. Since its humble beginnings in Soperton, Ga, Farmers Furniture's legacy has grown to 259 stores throughout Georgia, Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina and South Carolina, offering quality home furnishings and appliances at reasonable prices. The re-opening celebration will include a ribbon cutting at 4 p.m., music, food, storewide savings, special free gifts and raffles.
