WCBOE Accepts Coach Ingle’s Resignation, Updates School Calendar

During its regular monthly session on November 13, the Wheeler County Board of Education reluctantly accepted the resignation of head high school football coach Britt Ingle.

“He’s done a fabulous job,” not only in coaching, but also, “he has done a great job in teaching the students,” said Schools Superintendent Suzanne Couey.

Coach Ingle was hired at the beginning of this school year. He resigned because of personal reasons.

In other business, the Board approved an updated 2024 school year calendar. Superintendent Couey said that early release days have proven to be more disruptive than beneficial for staff and students, and proposed that the remaining four early release days become full student days. She also proposed that January 5 be added as a teacher work day so that students return to school on January 8 instead of January 5 following the Christmas holiday break. (See attached updated calendar).

The Board will meet again on Monday, December 11, at 6:30 p.m. at the Board office.
