In an intense volleyball showdown, the Toombs County High School Lady NetDawgs triumphed over their cross-town rivals, Vidalia High School, in a grueling five-set match. The scores were tightly contested: 20-25, 25-18, 1825, 26-24, and 15-12, culminating in a total of 104104. However, the Net-Dawgs clinched the victory by winning 3 sets to 2.

The significance of this match couldn’t be overstated. Beyond the rivalry between Toombs County and Vidalia, the win secured a position in the next phase of the Area Tournament for the Lady Bulldogs on Saturday. More importantly, the win guaranteed a spot in the State Tournament.

Highlighting individual performances: From the service line, Emma Wright and Arianna Hill stood out. Wright delivered 16 service points, 4 aces, and committed no errors. Hill was close behind with 15 service points and 2 aces, while Makayla Brewton added 3 aces. Martasia Burton and Anabel Cruz contributed 6 service points each. In the defensive department, Anna Patrick blocked 3 shots, with both Brewton and McKenzie Kilgore contributing one block each. Burton facilitated with 20 assists, and Cruz followed with 12 assists. As for offense, Brewton and Patrick were leaders in kills, registering 13 and 12 respectively, while Hill and Kilgore added 7 and 4 kills.

The upcoming challenge is set for Saturday at Windsor Forest, where the team will face off against Savannah Arts at 10:00 a.m. Alongside this match, Pierce and Appling will be competing. The winners of these matches will vie for the 1st and 2nd positions, while the losing teams will contest for the 3rd and 4th seedings in the State Tournament, which kicks off on Tuesday, October 17.
