The Georgia Department of Transportation has published its newest list of traffic interruptions throughout the state, which includes the closure of Harden Chapel Road in Toombs County.

According to the Department, the road was first closed on Wednesday, October 4, for bridge replacement work, which will last until March 31, 2024. Drivers are advised to detour through State Route 56 and U.S. Highway 1 to avoid the area.

Additionally, nightly closures of GA HWY 280 will continue each night on Sunday through Thursday for the coming weeks, as the roadway is repaved from its intersection with State Route 4/U.S. Highway 1 in Lyons to the intersection with State Route 135 in Higgston. In an attempt to avoid the disruption of traffic, these lane closures will occur from 6:30 p.m. until 6: 30 a.m. each night. The project began on August 13, and is expected to be completed by December 10.
