3 Wins For Lady Eagles

It was a good week for the Lady Eagles softball team of Montgomery County High School as they picked up three wins. They were at McIntosh County Academy on Monday and then on Tuesday hosted the Panthers of Portal. They wrapped up the week on Wednesday at Wheeler County. vs. MCA

The Lady Eagles run ruled the Lady Bucs of MCA on Monday in Darien. MCHS put three runs on the board in the first inning, and then added two more in the second as they led, 5-0.

Montgomery scored three more runs in the third inning, one in the fourth, and closed out the game with two more in the fifth on the way to an 11-0 win.

Marley Bell led the way with 3 RBI's. Laurie Conner and Erin Adams each drove in 2 runs in the game. Shelley Conner got the win in the circle for MCHS with 10 strikeouts in the game. vs. Portal

It was another run rule win for MCHS as they hosted Portal. MCHS plated a run in the bottom of the first inning to take the early lead, and added another run in the second inning to go up 2-0.

MCHS broke the game open in the third inning with four more runs to lead 6-0. Portal put a run on the board in the top of the fourth inning and scored a second run in the top of the fifth to close the lead to 6-2.

But MCHS plated four more runs in the bottom of the fifth to push their lead to 10-2, and to secure the win.

Ashton Thigpen drove in 4 runs to lead the Lady Eagles at the plate. Shelley Conner had 2 RBI's in the game. Shelley Conner again was the winning pitcher, this time with 9 strikeouts. vs. Wheeler

Montgomery had to come from behind to win over the Lady Bulldogs of Wheeler County in Alamo on Wednesday. Wheeler put a run on the board in the bottom of the first inning and added three more in the second as they took a 4-0 lead over MCHS.

The Eagles got a run in the top of the third inning, but Wheeler scored four more in the bottom of the fourth inning to take a commanding, 8-1, lead.

But in the top of the sixth inning the Eagles got the bats going as they plated eight runs to jump ahead, 9-8. Neither team scored over the next two innings as MCHS held on to take the, 9-8, win.

Shelley Conner led the Eagles at the plate with 4 RBI's. Laurie Conner added 2 RBI's, as did Trinity Wideman. Shelley Conner and Bell combined for 12 strikeouts in the circle.

This week MCHS will wrap up the regular season. They face Johnson County on Wednesday at home at 5:30 p.m., and then will host Clinch County on Thursday at 5:30 p.m., both nonregion games. MCHS is currently 10-11 on the year and they are 4-4 in the Region and sit in third place.
