VHS Softball With Two Wins

The Vidalia High School softball team took on Tattnall County and Heard County last week, picking up wins in both games. They were also scheduled to play Toombs County on Thursday, but that game was postponed due to weather. vs. Tattnall

The Indians got on the board first with a run in the top of the first inning. They added two more in the third inning to take a 3-0 lead on the Lady Warriors.

Vidalia picked up two more runs in the fourth inning, and two in the top of the fifth inning to lead 7-0. VHS scored one more run in the sixth inning as they went on to win the game 8-0 over Tattnall. vs. Heard

This was a close game with the Indians coming out on top. VHS again took the early lead, this time with three runs in the top of the first inning.

Neither team scored over the next couple of innings, but Heard plated a run in the bottom of the fourth inning to close the lead to 3-1.

The game remained that way until the bottom of the seventh inning when Heard came through with two runs to tie the game at 3-3, and force extra innings.

Vidalia blew the game open in the top of the eighth inning as they plated five runs to jump out to an 8-3 lead. Heard got the bats going in the bottom of the eighth inning, but VHS held them to three runs as the Indians took the win, 8-6.

The Indians are now 7-6 overall and are 3-2 in Region play. They have two big Region games this week as they took on Appling County on Tuesday after presstime and will be in action on Thursday in Nahunta against Brantley County at 6:00 p.m. They will also play Creekview on Friday night at home at 6:00 p.m. in a nonregion game.
