BPC Cross Country In Macon

Brewton-Parker College's Cross Country teams traveled to Macon to compete at the Julius Johnson Invite hosted by Mercer on Saturday morning of last week.

Women

The Lady Barons finished seventh in a field of nine schools, including an NCAA Division I team and five NCAA Division II teams. A total of five Lady Barons ran in a tough field of 64 individuals. The team was led by Karen Garcia with a time of 24:53 to finish in 34th place.

Yecenia Solorzano finished behind Garcia in 45th with a time of 28:34 with Jaleah Rhett right behind her, coming in at 28:57 for a 46th-place finish. Anders Ignoffo (49th, 31:38) and Kayla Phipps (59th, 37:39) wrapped up the rest of the Lady Barons team.

Men

The Barons finished fifth in a field of seven schools, including a D1 team and four D2 teams. A total on nine Barons ran in the 69-man field. The team was led by De-Mario Thomas and DJ Christensen, who finished five tenths of a second apart, with times of 35:29.40 and 35:29.90.

Gabriel Wrye crossed the line next in 35:40, followed by Jonah Galli (36:02), Jordan Hackett (37:04), Eric Smith (37:13), Brandon Williams (37:22), Anthony Ferrie (41:21), and Trey Reid (41:34) The Barons will be back in action this Friday, Sept. 22, with the program’s first meet on campus in Mount Vernon.
