Lady Eagles Drop 2 Games

It was a tough week for the Lady Eagles softball team of Montgomery County High School last week as they dropped a close game to Dublin on Tuesday and then fell to Telfair County on Wednesday. vs. Dublin

It was a heartbreaker for MCHS in Dublin last week. Dublin took the early lead with three runs in the bottom of the first inning, and then added a run in the second and one in the third to take a 5-0 lead. The Lady Irish scored three more in the fourth inning as they looked like they were going to run away with the game, up 8-0.

But in the top of the fifth inning, the MCHS offense got going as they scored four runs to close the lead to 8-4. Dublin answered with two more runs in the bottom half of the frame, but in the top of the sixth inning, MCHS scored six runs to tie the game at 10-10.

Montgomery held in the bottom of the sixth inning, but could not add to their total in the top of the seventh inning. In the bottom of the final inning, Dublin was able to get a run across as they took the win, 11-10, over the Eagles.

MCHS was led by Marley Bell and Trinity Wideman who each drove in two runs. vs. Telfair

The Lady Eagles couldn't get as much going on Wednesday against the Lady Trojans of Telfair County. MCHS did take the lead with a run in the bottom of the first inning, but Telfair scored four in the second inning to lead 4-1.

MCHS added a run in the third inning, but Telfair answered in the top of the fourth inning to lead 5-2.

Telfair plated three more runs in the top of the seventh inning, with MCHS adding one more in the bottom of that final inning. That gave the Lady Trojans an 8-3 win over MCHS.
