The Montgomery County High School Eagles had their home opener last Friday night against the Taylor County Vikings. Taylor County jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the first quarter using their running game. Neither team was able to get anything going offensively for the remainder of the half, and the score at halftime was 8-0 Taylor County.

Montgomery came out the first drive of the second half and put together a long scoring drive that was capped off by a 4-yard touchdown run by Darius Wells. Mario Ortega made the PAT to make the game 8-7 Taylor.

Taylor County scored on their ensuing drive to increase their lead to 14-7. The Eagles came back down the field with their next drive ending with a 33-yard touchdown pass from quarterback
