Busy Week For Toombs County Volleyball

The Toombs County High School volleyball team was in action last week as they took on rival Vidalia High School, and then were on the road to face New Hampstead and Jenkins County. vs. Vidalia

The JV team showcased their skills by securing victories in two sets, 25-15 and 25-23. Their serving prowess was evident, as they racked up 16 aces during the matches. Emma Wright led the charge with 8 service points, including 4 aces, while Alivia Patrick contributed with 5 service points, all of which were aces. Maggie Rodriguez added 6 service points and 2 aces. Not to be left out, Kayla Ruan, Abby White, Natalie Collins, Elida Cruz, and Melinda Fagan each delivered an ace. It was a commendable team effort at the service line.

On the Varsity side, the team demonstrated exemplary cohesion and talent across the board, winning in three sets: 2517, 25-22, and 25-20. Throughout the three sets, the Lady Netdawgs impressively recorded 20 kills and 13 aces while limiting themselves to just 7 service errors.

Some key performances included: Anna Patrick with 6 service points, 3 aces, and 6 kills. Anabel Cruz, who notched 7 service points, 3 aces, and provided 17 assists. Emma Wright had 8 service points and 2 aces. Arianna Hill contributed 6 service points, 3 aces, and 5 kills. Makayla Brewton delivered 7 service points and 4 kills. Scarlett Stanley had 5 service points, 2 aces, and 3 notable digs. McKenzie Kilgore rounded off the game with 4 kills. vs. New Hampstead

In an evening of mixed fortunes at New Hampstead, the Lady Netdawgs faced challenges and victories. They were edged out by New Hampstead in a tense three-set match (21-25, 27-25, 11-15), even after leading the first set 21-16. However, showing their resilience, the team rebounded to clinch a win against Jenkins, taking the match in consecutive sets (25-22 and 25-16).

During the face-off against New Hampstead, Anabel Cruz displayed an all-around performance with 9 service points, 5 aces, 6 assists, 4 digs, a block, and a kill. Anna Patrick also stood out with 9 service points, 2 blocks, and 4 kills. Arianna Hill contributed 8 service points, 2 aces, 4 digs, and 4 kills, while McKenzie Kilgore registered 2 blocks and 3 kills. vs. Jenkins

The match against Jenkins witnessed contributions from across the board. Service points were amassed by several players: Anabel and Emma (7 each), Anna and Arianna (5 each), Makayla (4), and Scarlett (3). On the aces front, Emma led with 4, followed by Anabel and Arianna with 3 each, and both Anna and Makayla had 2. Anabel and Martasia directed the game with assists, securing 7 and 4, respectively. Anna spearheaded the kills with 6, joined by Makayla with 4, McKenzie with 2, and Anabel adding one more to her tally.

Toombs was back in action this week at Windsor Forest on Monday after presstime against Windsor Forest and Groves. Tuesday, also after presstime, they faced Bradwell Institute and Wayne County.
