BPC Softball Conference Awards

The Southern States Athletic Conference has announced the 2023 Softball All-Conference Awards prior to the conference championship in Decatur, Alabama this week. A total of three Brewton- Parker College Lady Barons earned conference honors while 10 earned Academic All-SSAC honors and one earning Champions of Character recognition. Two ladies earned Second- Team All-Conference honors as MacKenzie Tripp and Abbey Flowers led the way for Brewton-Parker while Alyssa Usrey earned All-Freshman Team honors.

As the second baseman for BPC, Tripp competed in 31 games and recorded a .287 batting average. She produced 27 hits, 34 total bases, 10 RBIs, eight runs, three doubles, and two triples. Defensively, Tripp has produced 75 put outs and 60 assists while being a part of six double plays.

Flowers worked double duty for Brewton-Parker as the designated player and catcher. She led the team with three homers while notched a team second-best 32 hits. Flowers recorded 24 RBIs, 49 total bases, and eight doubles while producing a .278 batting average and a .426 slugging percentage.

In her first campaign in Mount Vernon, Usrey led BPC with 33 hits and a .277 batting average while making all 38 appearances for the Lady Barons. She was a mainstay at the shortstop position but stood out at the plate. Usrey notched 20 runs, four doubles, one triple, and two homers while knocking in 15 RBIs.

As for the Academic All-SSAC Honorees, Cayden Fleming, Leah Henry, Taylor Radford, Noel Smith, Cailyn Snellgrove, Josalin Whitten, Laykin Brown, Ashley Wilson, Flowers and Tripp all earned the Barnes and Noble College All-Academic Team selections with Brown also being named to the Champions of Character Team.
