Bucs Sweep MCHS Eagles
The Montgomery County High School Eagles baseball team faced the Buccaneers of McIntosh County Academy in a three-game Region series. It was all Bucs as they swept the Eagles.
Game 1
MCA took the early lead with three runs in the top of the first inning, and then added four more in the third to lead 7-0. The Eagles scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to make it 7- 2.
The Bucs added two runs in the fifth and then two more in the seventh inning to take the win, 11- 2.
Game 2
Montgomery took the lead with two runs in the top of the first inning, but in the bottom of the frame the Bucs exploded for nine runs, and a 9-2 lead. They added nine more in the second inning to go up 18-2.
MCHS scored one more in the third inning, but that was all they could get as MCA won by the run rule, 18-3.
Game 3
In the third game of the series the Eagles again had the early lead with a run in the top of the first inning, but MCA scored eight in the bottom half, and then added two more in the second to lead, 101.
Three more from the Bucs in the third inning made it 13-1, and they held in the top of the fourth to get the win, 131.
This week MCHS takes on Jenkins County for a three-game Region series. They played the first game on Tuesday after presstime. They will be back in action on Wednesday in Mt. Vernon for a double header with the first game at 4:00 p.m.
