Treutlen Plays In Region

The Treutlen County High School Vikings basketball teams took part in the Region Tournament last week. The Lady Vikings lost to Wilcox County and Telfair County, while the boys picked up a win over Wheeler County but fell to the Bobcats of Dooly County. Both Treutlen teams will be advancing to the State Playoffs that begin this week.

Girls vs. Wilcox

It was a close game between the Vikings and Lady Patriots with Wilcox coming out on top. Wilcox jumped out to a 12-6 lead in the first quarter of the game and then extended that lead to 2914 by the end of the first half.

In the third quarter the Lady Vikings closed the lead to 39-25, and then made a run in the fourth quarter but came up short. Wilcox took the win 49-41 over Treutlen.

Boys vs. Wheeler

It was all Vikings in the game over Wheeler County. Treutlen pulled out to an early lead and ran away to a 75-35 victory.

Girls vs. Telfair

The Lady Trojans rolled to a win over Treutlen. Telfair took an 18-9 lead in the first quarte of the game and extended that lead to 3522 by halftime. It was a big third quarter for Telfair that sealed the win as they outscored the Vikings 2517. That gave them a 6039 lead going to the fourth. Telfair took the win 84-58.

Boys vs. Dooly

The Bobcats of Dooly took the win over the Vikings. The Vikings kept it close but fell 75-64.

The Lady Vikings went up against the Lady Eagles of Montgomery County in the first round of the GHSA State Playoffs on Tuesday of this week after presstime. The Treutlen boys will play on Wednesday against the Panthers of Portal in Portal at 6:00 p.m.
