Tough Week For Bulldogs

The Toombs County High School boys and girls basketball teams took on Tattnall County, Windsor Forest, and Claxton last week with each team winning just one game. The girls picked up a win over Windsor Forest, while the boys defeated Claxton.

Girls vs. Tattnall

Tattnall County rolled to win over the Lady Bulldogs. They jumped out to a 9-5 lead and continued to pull away. By the third quarter the score was 4221. in the fourth it was 6329, and Tattnall took the win 76-30.

Boys vs. Tattnall

The boys game was closer, but the Warriors of Tattnall still came out on top. In the first quarter Tattnall took a 14-8 lead over the Bulldogs. They increased that lead to 3520 by halftime.

In the third quarter the Bulldogs got back on track, but were down 4935 heading to the fourth.

Toombs pulled a bit closer, but Tattnall took the win, 66-55. Toombs was led by Mike Polke and Daminic Eason with 13 points each. Girls vs. Windsor Forest

The Lady Bulldogs added to their win total as they defeated the Lady Knights, The score was tied at 16-16 in the first quarter, and by the end of the first half TCHS was on top by just one, 30-29.

Toombs increased their lead to 41-38 at the end of the third, and took the win 55-44 as they pulled away late. Boys vs. Windsor Forest

The TCHS boys fell in a close one to the Knights. WF was on top 17-13 at the end of the first quarter, but the Bulldogs came storming back and held a 29-26 lead at the end of the first half.

Windsor Forest led by one at the end of the third, 41-40. Windsor pulled out the win, 61-57 over the Bulldogs.

Toombs was led by Eason with 26 points, with Jesus Quintero adding 11 in the loss.

Girls vs. Claxton

The Lady Tigers rolled to a win over the Lady Bulldogs. They led 10-8 at the end of the first, but pulled away to a halftime lead of 25-13.

At the end of the third the score was 37-19. Claxton took the win 53-27.

Boys vs. Claxton

In the boys game the Bulldogs were the ones with the blowout win. Toombs led 13-8 in the first quarter and pushed that lead to 32-18 at halftime. Toombs had a huge third quarter as they outscored the Tigers 29-6. That gave them a 61-24 lead. In the fourth Toombs pulled away to a 76-26 win over the Tigers.

TCHS was led by Eason with 35 points, and Tamarian Mcarthur and Demetrius Cutler each scoreing 10 points.

This week Toombs was at Pierce County on Tuesday after presstime. They will be at Vidalia on Friday at 6:00 p.m. and then at Bleckley County on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
