VHS Wrestles In Tennessee

The Vidalia High School wrestling team traveled to Chattanooga, Tennessee, over the weekend, where they finished 20th in the McCallie High School Invitational. Two Indians finished in the top 10, including Deuce Hightower 6th (160) and Stephen Cheeks 6th (285). Hightower went 3-3 in his matches, and Cheeks was 2-3.

The tournament, one of the biggest and toughest in the southeast, fielded 37 teams, and Head Coach Bobby Blount said that his team gained some valuable experience. “The kids gained a lot of experience this weekend. We are so proud of the effort that they showed. This kind of opened some of our kids’ eyes to what solid championship wrestling looks like. Our kids responded well, and we will move forward and get ready for our first home match of the season on Tuesday at 5.
