Shootout For Vikings

There were just a few points scored in the Treutlen County High School vs. Hawkinsville football game on Friday night of last week in Hawkinsville. There were a total of 120 points put on the board between the two teams, including 48 points in the first half of the game. The Hawkinsville Red Devils took the win over the Treutlen Vikings, but the offense came to play on Friday night. The Devils put on a show on Friday as they racked up 34 points in the first half of the game. Treutlen managed to score 14 points, but had yet to find they rhythm. In the second half of the game Hawkinsville struck first with a rushing touchdown with less than six minutes left in the quarter. They missed the PAT but were on top 40-14.

On the ensuing kickoff the Vikings took it back for the touchdown to quickly close the gap to 40-22 after the added the two-point conversion.

Hawkinsville answered with two minutes to go on another rushing touchdown. They again missed the extra point, but were on top 46-22. Hawkinsville added another touchdown early in the fourth quarter and made the extra point to push their lead to 53-22.

Treutlen found the end zone again on another kick return for a touchdown. With the two-point conversion they made the score 53-30. With 10 minutes to go, the score was 60-30 after another Devil touchdown. Treutlen made it 60-36 with a passing touchdown, but another from Hawkinsville pushed them back out to a 66-36 lead. With nine minutes to go in the game, Hawkinsville was in for another score to go ahead 76-74 after the two-point try.

The Vikings scored the final touchdown of the game with five minutes left in the game. They added the two-point conversion to make the final score 7644with Hawkinsville on top. The Vikings are now 0-8 on the year. This Friday Treutlen will travel to Alamo to face off with rival Wheeler County with kickoff at 7:30 p.m.
