As Halloween nears this weekend, several festivals and trick-or-treating events will be taking place throughout the area. Make sure to catch them all to maximize the fun and festivity for you and your children!

Toombs County

Festivals

The Downtown Vidalia Association will be hosting its annual Spooktacular event downtown on Thursday, October 27, from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. During this event, children will parade through the downtown Vidalia area in costumes and receive candy and goodies from local businesses and groups. Saturday, October 29, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Visitors to downtown Lyons can enjoy the seasonal decorations, browse the local businesses, and of course, get some candy. For more information, contact the Lyons Main Street Association office at (912) 5266445.

Trick-Or-Treat

Citywide door-to-door Trick-Or-Treating for Vidalia and Lyons will also be held on Halloween, October 31.

Montgomery County

The City of Alston will be hosting a trick-or-treat event on Saturday, October 29, beginning at 4:30 p.m. Participants will line up to go through the trickor- treat route at the Alston Firehouse at 4:30 p.m., then will travel the path at 5 p.m. For more information, contact Kim Oglesby at 912293-5452.

The Montgomery County Schools Future Farmers of America (FFA) will be hosting a fall festival for the public at the old Montgomery County High School gym on Thursday, November 3, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Each ticket for mini booth activities costs 50 cents, but nonperishable food items for the FFA Food drive can be redeemed for 2 tickets per person at the event.

Trick-Or-Treat

The city of Mount Vernon will have door-to-door trick-or-treat from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. on October 31.

Trunk-or Treat

The city of Higgston is sponsoring a free community event for children. Candy and toys will be given to all who attend. The event, slated for Saturday, October 29, 5-7 p.m., at Higgston City Park is sponsored by the Battleground Guard and Quint Shrine Club.

Wheeler County

The cities of Alamo and Glenwood will stage their annual trunk-or-treats downtown on Monday, October 31, 6 until 8 p.m.
