STC HOSTS FISH FRY — Southeastern Technical College (STC) held a fish fry on its campus to thank the donors of the STC Foundation for their investment in the college. Montgomery County Commission, in its regular session on October 10, took another step toward constructing a new pavilion at the county’s Recreation Department.

The Commission approved a resolution to apply to the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) for the FY2022 Georgia Outdoor Stewardship Program. If granted, the funds will be used to build a new pavilion that will house a concession stand and restrooms. The new facility will replace an outdated structure at the site. Under its consent agenda, the Commission approved: • DNR's Local Gov ernment Tire Abatement Reimbursement Program Agreement. The program will be conducted December 12-16.

• An amendment to the Administrative Services Agreement with ACCG Retirement Services.

• A leGer to the Mont gomery County Development Authority soliciting three nominees to be considered as candidates for the Authority’s District 1, Mount Vernon Militia District, board member seat with a term office of five years beginning effective January 1, 2023, and expiring on January 1, 2028.

• A Probation Services Contract between Judicial Alternatives of Georgia and the Montgomery County Probate Court.

• A food service con tract with Middle Flint Council on Aging, Inc., to provide meals for the clients served at the Montgomery County Senior Center.

• Authorization for advertisement to solicit applicants for two board members to serve on the Montgomery County Board of Tax Assessors.

The Commission voted to rescind action from December 13, 2021, regular meeting declaring the following equipment as surplus: • 2013 John Deere 672G Motor Grader SN1DW672GPTDE651632 -Rome GS16D-770GFH Plow Slopper SN – GS16D770GFH105.

• Authorize the County Manager to advertise to receive sealed bids: -John Deere CX15 Rotary Cutter SN – 1P0CX15GCBZ016059.

This equipment is still being used by the county.

The Commission awarded a bid to Scruggs Company for $669,860.20 to perform full depth reclamation and asphalt resurfacing of Fire Tower Road for an area involving 1.46 miles. Bids for the project were opened September 29.

The Commission authorized a request for bids to remodel the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office building and authorize the bid advertisement; and approved the Broadband Subrecipient Grant Agreement to grant a portion of the American Rescue Plan Funds (ARPA) to Altamaha Electric Membership Corporation to provide broadband internet access in Montgomery County.

The Commission approved a Request for Proposals for a new Fire & Rescue Truck to be assigned to the Montgomery State Prison’s Fire Team. The truck, which will replace another similar, aging vehicle, is a quick attack fire apparatus truck — or a brush truck — and will be purchased with a USDA grant loan. The vehicle, although stationed at the prison, will serve the Montgomery County area. Bids for the vehicle will be opened November 10.
