Vikings Fall To Patriots

The Vikings of Treutlen County High School were in Rochelle last week on Thursday for a matchup against the Patriots of Wilcox County. It was another tough loss for the Vikings as they fell 56-6 to fall to 0-6 on the season. Wilcox found the endzone on their first possession of the game. They capped off a drive with a 1-yard run. They added the extra point to lead 7-0 with just over nine minutes to go in the opening quarter.

Treutlen looked as if they would answer the Patriots as they moved the ball down the field. They were set up with a firstand- goal from the 1-yard line, but penalties moved them back, and Truetlen was kept off the scoreboard.

Treutlen held the Patriots over the rest of the first quarter, but late in the second Wilcox woke up and got the passing game going as they scored three times in a five minute span. That put them on top 290. They held that lead into halftime. Wilcox pushed that lead to 36-0 early in the third quarter on a 50-yard touchdown pass and the extra point.

The Patriots added three more touchdowns in the third quarter on a 10yard run, a 61-yard run, and a 70-yard pass, to give them a 56-6 lead. There was no scoring in the final quarter.

Treutlen will face the Dooly County Bobcats on Thursday night for homecoming at Bobby Driggers Stadium with kickoff set for 7:30. Catch all the action with Jeff Raiford and Nathan Lamb on Sweet Onion Country 101.7 FM and online at www.southeastgeorgiatoday. com.
