TCHS Volleyball Wins Over Appling

The Toombs County High School volleyball team had home matches against Appling County and New Hampstead on Tuesday of last week.

JV vs. Appling

In the first matchup, the JV Lady Net Dogs beat Appling in two straight sets 25-10 and 25-23. Makayla Brewton was very good from the service line. She had 16 service points and 9 aces. Emma Wright led the team with 5 assists and Lasagessa Thomas led the team with 3 kills. Madison Brown, Arianna Hill, and Alivia Patrick all contributed 2 kills each. vs. Appling

In the first varsity matchup, TCHS squared off against Appling County, which went down to the wire in three sets. The Lady Dogs lost the match, winning the first set 25-19, but losing the second and third sets 23-25 and 5-15. Zariaha Newkirk had a good match with 5 service points, 1 ace, 2 digs, and 7 kills. Scarlett Stanley and Anna Patrick had 3 kills each. Anabel Cruz led the team with 6 assists and Kortney Mahone had 4 digs. vs. New Hampstead

In the second varsity match, Toombs faced the New Hampstead Pheonix but lost in 3 sets 9-25, 25-19, and 15-17. In the match, Cruz had 7 assists and Newkirk had 4 kills. Mahone led the way with 4 service points. Varsity is now 14-9 overall and 7-4 in region play. The JV moves to 5- 3.
