Brewton-Parker’s Southern States Athletic Conference opener is set for Nov. 17 against William Carey (Miss.). Barons
A new era has begun for Brewton-Parker Men’s Basketball, as Head Coach Leonard Epps and staff have announced the upcoming 2022-23 schedule. The Barons have 28 official contests scheduled with a pair of exhibitions slated as well. The season opener for BPC is set for Nov. 3 against Paine (Ga.) in Mount Vernon. “My staff and I are excited to finally get things going with practice starting on Sept. 22,” Coach Epps said. “Playing in a loaded conference like the Southern States presents so many challenges, and we felt like we did a solid job of creating a good non-conference schedule.”
“Having a mix of Division I and Division II exhibition games helps to challenge our guys early,” Epps added. “We also felt it was good to create a regional matchup with Paine from Augusta. As for Voorhees, they look the most like teams in our conference, and having them scheduled will prep us for what is to come,” Epps mentioned. “Lastly, we are excited to play in the first year of the SSAC and Sun Conference challenge.”
BPC’s slate includes 13 home contests with 17 on the road. Brewton-Parker’s Southern States Athletic Conference opener is set for Nov. 17 against William Carey (Miss.). BPC’s conference schedule includes 10 SSAC matchups in Gillis Gymnasium and 10 matchups on the road. Lastly, the pair of exhibitions for the Barons will take place on Nov. 14 at NCAA DI Kennesaw State (Ga.) and on Nov. 22 at NCCA DII Embry-Riddle (Fla.).
Brewton-Parker returns a few players from the 2021-22 campaign but boasts a roster full of fresh faces for this upcoming season. In addition to the newest student- athletes, BPC holds a completely new coaching staff to lead alongside Epps in Assistant Coach Jovan Coleman and Student Assistant Deon Williams.
