MONTHLY MEETING — The Toombs County Retired Educators held their first meeting of the year on September 1, 2022, in the fellowship hall of Grace Community Presbyterian Church in Lyons. A brunch was held to honor the retired educators in Toombs County. TCREA was delighted to honor (L TO R): Diane Manning, Vicki Mixon, Kim Robinson, and Gail Waller. Not pictured: Gail Mason. They invite anyone who is retired from any school system position to join them. The next meeting will be on October 6 at Grace Community Presbyterian Church in Lyons at 10:30 am. BRINGING CHRISTMAS CHEER TO THE AREA - Kids are sure to see Santa and enjoy all the fun of the holidays with several activities planned throughout the area this month.

NATIONAL QUALIFIERS – Five members of the Montgomery County Middle School Junior Beta Club qualified for the National Beta Convention competition for their work in teambuilding and collaborative exercises. These members were recognized during the November 14 meeting of the Montgomery County Board of Education. WATCHING THE SYRUP BOIL — B.L. Horne keeps an eye on the kettle as he stops occasionally to greet guests at the annual syrup making event outside of Glenwood on November 18. He is on his last batch of syrup, having started the boilings two days earlier.
