MONTHLY MEETING — The Toombs County Retired Educators held their first meeting of the year on September 1, 2022, in the fellowship hall of Grace Community Presbyterian Church in Lyons. A brunch was held to honor the retired educators in Toombs County. TCREA was delighted to honor (L TO R): Diane Manning, Vicki Mixon, Kim Robinson, and Gail Waller. Not pictured: Gail Mason. They invite anyone who is retired from any school system position to join them. The next meeting will be on October 6 at Grace Community Presbyterian Church in Lyons at 10:30 am. INFORMING THE COMMUNITY – State Representatives Shaw Blackmon, Jaclyn Ford, Leo Chancey, and Leesa Hagan spoke to the community about rural development during an event on Thursday, June 18.
REMOVING A HAZARD – Because of the deterioration and damage of the old Montgomery County Middle School building, which is located behind the Montgomery County Board of Education, the structure will be demolished in the coming month.
OVER TWO DECADES OF SERVICE – Toombs County Commissioners recently thanked Motor Grader Operator Randy Rogers for dedicating over two decades of service to ensuring the County’s dirt roads were smooth.
