Lady Eagles Over Jenkins

It was a busy week for the Montgomery County High School Lady Eagles softball team as they played three games last week. They took on Dublin on Tuesday on the road, were in Sandersville on Wednesday to play Washington County, and wrapped up the week on Thursday in Millen against Jenkins County. MCHS was just able to get one win on the week as they defeated Jenkins County.

Vs. Dublin

Dublin took control of this game early with six runs in the bottom of the first inning. They added two more in the second inning to lead 8-0. MCHS scored three in the top of the third inning, but Dublin added one in the fourth to hold a 9-3 lead.

MCHS plated one more in the top of the fifth, but three more from the Irish in the bottom of the frame ended the game by the run rule, 12-4. MCHS was led by Marley Bell and Erin Adams, who each drove in one run.

Vs. Washington

This game was a battle that came down to the final inning. Washington got on the board first with a run in the bottom of the first inning. They added four more in the fourth inning as they went ahead 5-0 on the Eagles.

MCHS bounced back with four runs in the top of the fifth inning to close the lead to 5-4, but two more from the Hawks in the bottom of the frame made it 7-4. MCHS came out in the top of the seventh inning and were able to score two more runs, but came up just short, losing 7-6.

Bell again led the team as she drove in three runs on three hits. Shelley Conner picked up two RBI’s and Lexi Page drove in one run.

Vs. Jenkins

The Eagles got their lone win of the week on Thursday in Millen. MCHS scored two runs in the top of the first inning, and that was all they would need in the game. Jenkins did get a run in the bottom of the first inning to make it 2-1, but neither team plated another run over the next six innings. Bell had one RBI in the game, and the other run was unearned. Conner pitched for the Eagles and had 11 strikeouts in the game to get the win.
