TCSA Into National Qualifier

US Soccer has officially accepted Toombs County Soccer Association as one of two GA United Premier Soccer League teams into the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. Lamar Hunt is open to Professional (Major League Soccer, United Soccer League) teams as well as pro-am and amateur teams throughout the United States. One hundred and seven Open Division teams have been approved for entry into the Qualifying Rounds for the 2023 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup – U.S. Soccer's National Championship.

The First Qualifying Round will be played on Sept. 17-18, with the matchups to be announced by U.S. Soccer on Aug. 25. Open Division Local Qualifying is conducted on a single-game, knockout basis. Matchups are determined geographically to minimize travel time and expense, with random selection used when practicable to determine opponent pairings. Home teams are determined by coin flip. The Qualifying Rounds will take place across four weekends from September to December 2022.

2023 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Qualifying Schedule •September 17-18, 2022 – First Qualifying Round •October 15-16, 2022 – Second Qualifying Round •November 19-20, 2022 – Third Qualifying Round •December, 17-18, 2022 – Fourth Qualifying Round A total of nine slots in the 2023 tournament proper will be available to the teams left standing after the four rounds of qualifying competition.

The tournament proper will begin the week of March 20, 2023, with the Final scheduled for Wednesday, September 27, 2023.

The history-filled annual tournament, entering its 108th edition, is the only high-profile event in American team sports where amateur sides have the opportunity, should they advance far enough, to face professionals in meaningful national competition. Bavarian United Earn Spot In First Round Proper Beyond the amateur teams in local qualifying, Bavarian United (Wisc.) have been awarded a direct slot in the First Round Proper of the 2023 Open Cup by virtue of winning the 2022 U.S. Adult Soccer Association (USASA) National Amateur Cup on Aug. 8.

National League Qualifying Both the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) and USL League Two (USLL2) have opted to use the Open Division National Leagues track for qualifying. This election allows the two nationwide amateur leagues to use 2022 league results to determine their clubs that will advance to the First Round Proper in 2023, substituting league competition for the local qualifying process.
