BPC Athletes Read Across America

Brewton-Parker Col- lege student-athletes served the local community through reading to local elementary students for Read Across America Week.

A handful of studentathletes traveled to Lyons Elementary on Friday morning to read their favorite Dr. Seuss books in honor of it also being Dr. Seuss week. The student-athletes that participated in Friday’s readings were Taylor Scarbrough, Amanda Jeffery, Macy Todd, Nia Johnson, Camille Mendez, Mekayla Watlington, Matthew Dunn, Malik Brown, David Williams, Ryder Sasser, and Jordan Solomon. Read Across America Week 2022 covers February 28 through March 4. The week is highlighted by March 2 as National Read Across America Day, which is also the birthday of beloved children’s book author Dr. Seuss.

Friday’s reading at Lyons Elementary was organized by Lyons Primary Special Education Teacher Katherine Cokonougher, wife of Assistant Athletic Director and Director of Track & Field/Cross Country, Adam Cokonougher.
