Crusaders With 2 Wins

The Robert Toombs Christian Academy Baseball team took on Fullington Academy, Frederica Academy and Covenant Academy last week. RTCA picked up a win at home on Tuesday, fell at Frederica, but bounced back on Saturday to defeat Covenant. vs. Fullington In the bottom of the first inning Karson Evans led off with a walk. With two runners on base, a wild pitch moved them over to second and third before a hit by Dawson Pinkard put RTCA up 1-0. A ground out brought in another run for a 2-0 lead for the Crusaders. In the top of the second inning, Fullington did get a run across to close it to 2-1. In the bottom of the second, RTCA plated three more runs to push their lead to 5-1. They added four more in the third, and capped it off with two in the sixth as they won by the run rule, 11-1. vs. Frederica

RTCA struggled to get the offense going against Frederica on Thursday in St. Simons. Frederica got on the board first with three runs in the bottom of the third inning. RTCA picked up a run in the top of the fourth, but that was all they could muster in the game. Frederica added four in the fourth, and then four more in the fifth as they took the win, 11-1, over RTCA.

vs. Covenant

Covenant took the early lead in this game with three runs in the top of the first inning. RTCA bounced back with four in the bottom of the frame to jump on top 4-3. Covenant scored two more in the top of the second inning to go back on top 5-4 over RTCA. In the bottom of the second inning, RTCA picked up a run to tie the game at 5-5. Neither team could get a run in the third or fourth inning, but in the top of the fifth Covenant plated two more to take a 7-5 lead over RTCA. In the bottom of the frame, RTCA had tied the game at 7-7 before Cam Williams came through with the go ahead 2-RBI hit. That gave RTCA a 9-7 lead. The Crusaders added one more run in the inning to lead 10-7 heading to the sixth. Covenant scored one in the sixth, but RTCA answered with three more in the bottom half of the inning on the way to a 13-8 win. This week RTCA hosted Bulloch Academy on Tuesday after presstime. They will be back at home on Wednesday against Frederica Academy at 12:00 p.m.
