Bacon Sweeps Indians

The Indians soccer teams of Vidalia High School took on the Red Raiders of Bacon County last Friday at home. In the girls contest Bacon had the lead at halftime, 1-0. They added a goal in the second half of the game to take the Region win, 2-0, over the Lady Indians.

The boys game was a tough loss for VHS. The game was tied at 1-1 at the end of the first half and each team added a goal in the second half to send the game to overtime tied at 2-2.

In the first overtime neither team could score, but in the second overtime period Bacon found the back of the net twice as they took a 4-2 win over VHS. Vidalia got goals from Konner Owens and from Charles Gillenwater.

The Lady Indians are now 5-5 on the year and are 3-2 in the Region while the boys are 4-7 overall and are 2-3 in the Region. This week VHS was at East Laurens on Tuesday after presstime and will not be back in action until next Tuesday when they take on Swainsboro.
