VPD Investigates Accidental Shooting

Vidalia police responded to Royal Inn on First Street in Vidalia December 29 after receiving a report of a shooting. Investigator Chris Morgan of the Vidalia Police Department said, upon arriving at the scene, that officers discovered the victim had accidently discharged a 9 mm handgun while cleaning it and wounded himself in the left leg.

The victim was transported to Memorial Health Meadows Hospital for treatment. No charges were filed.
