TCHS Student Arrested For Weapon on Campus

A student at Toombs County High School was arrested January 5 after a weapon was found in his possession on campus.

Lyons Police Chief Wesley Walker said that two students who were suspicious that another student had a weapon notified administration. Within minutes of the notification, the school resource officer and staff of the school had confiscated the weapon and the student was apprehended. The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m.

The school was placed on lockdown as a precaution, but Chief Walker said there was no threat to anyone at the school after the incident. The investigation is continuing and Walker said more arrests may be made.

The suspect is a juvenile whose name will not be released.
