Walden Heading To Georgia Southwestern

At Vidalia High School last Thursday Jordan Walden signed his scholarship to play baseball for the Hurricanes of Georgia Southwestern State University. Walden will be taking his talents to GSW next season after a solid career at VHS.

Walden had a .314 career batting average for VHS with 55 hits, including eight doubles, 38 RBI’s, and 39 runs scored. He also has pitched 12 innings for the Indians with 20 strikeouts. He was selected to the 2021 Region 2AA 2nd Team All Region. As a team in this group of seniors three years they have made the Sweet 16 their freshman year, lost their sophomore year to COVID, and made the Elite 8 their junior year. Walden said, “I am really excited and I am really thankful for this opportunity. I want to thank everyone in my family, my teammates, everyone who has been there along the way, and of course God. I went on a visit and really liked the atmosphere and the coaches and felt like it is a very good fit for me.”

His father Chris added, “We are very proud of him and of this opportunity to play at the next level. It has been something that he has worked on for many years and is great to see this come to fruition. I just want to thank God for the talents and the ability that he has given Jordan. I have to thank his coaches here at VHS and on his travel ball team. Just can’t wait to see what the future holds for him.”

Coach Brent Korn stated, 'Just a tremendous athlete. He is a guy that could be a two way player. He can pitch, can hit, play in the field, he is going to be a good fit for them. He is a competitor and they are getting a good one.'
