Bulldogs Win On The Pitch

The Toombs County High School soccer teams were at Bacon County on Tuesday last week and then hosted Woodville-Tompkins on Friday in The Pit. Toombs won all four of the Region games as they continued to improve their record.

Girls vs. Bacon

The Lady Bulldogs took the early lead on Bacon County's Lady Raiders with two goals in the first half. In the second half of the game TCHS ran away with it as they added five more goals to get the 7-0 Region win.

Boys vs. Bacon

It was a battle for the win, with Toombs pulling it out. Toombs had a big first half scoring three goals. They came from Carlos Sanchez, Dawson Harvey, an Julian Marin-Vital. Toombs held Bacon to just one goal, to give the Bulldogs a 3-1 lead at halftime. In the second half of the game Bacon found the goal two times to tie the game and send it to overtime. The game eventually went to PK's to be decided and Toombs got the win, 4-3. TCHS goalkeeper Alejandro Baez came up with a big save to hold onto the win.

Girls vs. Woodville

Both Bulldog teams rolled to wins over the Wolverines of Woodville-Tompkins. The girls put three goals on the board in the first half, and then found the back of the net four more times in the second half. The Lady Bulldogs' defense was stingy as they allowed less than five shots on goal in the game. Toombs won the

game 7-0.

Boys vs. Woodville

In the boys game it was more of the same as Toombs scored four goals in the first half of the game and then added one more in the second half to take a 5-0 win. The TCHS boys also allowed less than five shots on goal in their game. The girls are now 3-2 on the year, but are 2-0 in the Region and the boys are 4-1 overall and 2-0 in the Region. This week the Bulldogs were at East Laurens on Tuesday after presstime and will be back in action on Friday when they host rival Vidalia with games starting at 5:00 p.m.
