Heritage Routs Coastal

The Vidalia Heritage Academy Eagles traveled down to Savannah to take on the Coastal Hurricanes last Friday night. It was a good game for VHA as they rolled over Coastal and got the win. The Eagles won the toss and took the field. VHA started off the game just the way they wanted to by having Ethan Sikes take the opening kickoff back 65 yard for a quick 6 points. The Eagles went for the 2-point conversion and walked it in with a jet sweep to Senior Jackson Williamson to lead 8-0.

All night long the Eagles went up and down the field putting 33 points on the Hurricanes in the first half.

Head Coach Seth Sitzman said, “I am proud of this group of young men. We are a team that works together each week. The team has grown together and that is why we are performing so well together. It is always fun to get these kinds of wins on the road. It truly shows the talent on the team.”

The Eagles had changes all night to their offense as they saw three different quarterbacks enter the game. Mason Beacham, JT Cofield, and Ledger Curl all played downs at QB. The stand out of the night on defense was Ethan Sikes, as he led the team in tackles. On offense senior Jackson Williamson led the way with 313 rushing yards. The Eagles had a total of 400 yards of offense over all.

The Eagles got the win 60-12 over Coastal. VHA football will pick things back up at home this Friday night, where they will take on David Emanuel Academy out of Stillmore. The Eagles will be playing for their first Varsity Region Championship and the #1 seed going into the playoffs. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. at Charles Wood Field.
