Candidates’ Debate Set for October 1

Candidates for Vidalia Mayor and Toombs and Montgomery County Commissions will be featured in a debate Thursday, October 1, in the Toombs Auditorium at Southeastern Technical College in Vidalia. John Koon will moderate the 6 p.m. event. Candidates will respond to questions submitted by area residents.

The debate will include Gregory Johnson and Doug Roper, candidates for the mayoral post; Thaddeus Holloway and Ginger Morris, who are vying for the District 3, Post 1 seat on the Montgomery County Commission; and Wendell Dixon and Dr. Samuel Rayapati, who are competing to represent District 2 on the Toombs County Commission.

The Toombs County Chamber of Commerce is receiving questions from the community for the candidates to answer at the debate. The questions may be submitted to anno@toombschamber.com through September 28. Seating for the event is limited. Tickets are free and required to achieve social distancing. Masks are also required.
