Lady Vikings Pick Up 2 Wins
The Treutlen County High School Lady Vikings softball team had a solid week, securing two wins. The Lady Vikings faced off with Jefferson County on Wednesday and Telfair County on Thursday. vs. Jefferson Co.
On Wednesday, the Lady Vikings defeated their opponents 10-2 in a decisive game.
The Vikings exploded for eight runs in the first inning alone, setting the tone for the entire contest. Ruthie Blair led the offensive charge with a two-run single, while Jada Wright and Maya Brinson each singled to score a run. Jayden Rogers contributed with a double, and Kaylyn Kight also doubled, both scoring a run. Taylor Gillis drew a walk to add another run to the tally.
In the second inning, Maya Brinson lined out to bring in an additional run.
The Lady Vikings' pitching was just as impressive. The starting pitcher, Ella Roberson, was lights out, surrendering no hits and no runs over two innings, while striking out six and walking two. Kenley Kight came in as a reliever, tossing one inning of shutout ball, striking out one and walking one. vs. Telfair Co.
The Lady Vikings continued their winning streak on Thursday, edging out a close 3-2 victory in a thrilling game. The score was tied at two in the top of the seventh inning when Jada Wright singled, scoring the winning run.
The game was a defensive battle with strong pitching on both sides. The Treutlen Varsity Vikings pitchers struck out six, while their opponents sat down eight.
The Lady Vikings initially took the lead 2-1 in the top of the fifth inning when Jayden Rogers singled and Kaylyn Kight doubled, with both players scoring.
Telfair managed to tie the game in the bottom of the fifth on a wild pitch, setting the stage for the dramatic finish in the seventh inning.
With two impressive victories under their belt, the Lady Vikings are proving to be a force to be reckoned with this season.
