BPCU Volleyball Wins Over Wesleyan

The Brewton-Parker Christian University's Lady Baron volleyball team played three matches last week. They faced off with Wesleyan College, Savannah State, and Life Univerity. BPCU got the win over Wesleyan, but fell in the other two matches. vs. Wesleyan

In a dominant team display, the Brewton-Parker Barons volleyball team cruised to victory in their match against the Wesleyan College Wolves at Gillis Gymnasium on September 9, 2025. The Barons swept the Wolves in straight sets to take home the win.

The match began strongly for the Barons, who took the first set 25-15. Their momentum didn't wane as they replicated the same score in set two. By the third set, the Barons showcased their superiority decisively, overwhelming the Wolves with a score of 25-7 to end the game.

Contributions came from all corners of the team. Adriana De Jesus and Taylor Lamontagne led the offensive efforts with eight kills each, supported notably by Ryann Prince, who also added a block to her performance. The defensive play was equally strong; Alana Garcia recorded four digs and a remarkable seven aces, with Raphaela Felisbereto contributing six digs, three aces, and 17 assists, leading in assists for the game.

Head Coach Obed Quiles expressed satisfaction with the team's performance, emphasizing the need to maintain their level of play and focus. 'We did a much better job today across the board. 'We need to carry this momentum into practice the rest of the week and turn our focus to our next opponent,'' Quiles commented after the match. vs. Savannah

In a regular-season volleyball showdown on September 11, 2025, the Brewton- Parker Christian University Barons faced the Savannah State Tigers at Tiger Arena in Savannah, GA. Despite a spirited effort, the Barons were unable to stop the Tigers with a final score of Savannah State 3, Brewton- Parker 1.

The match kicked off with the Barons putting up a competitive fight in the first set, but were unable to catch the Tigers, dropping the set 22-25. The second set saw the Barons pushing hard but ultimately falling at the same scoreline. The Barons bounced back in the third set, showcasing their resilience and skill to secure a 25-21 victory. This victory, however, was shortlived as they were overwhelmed in the fourth set, 12-25, leading to the loss.

Notable performances included Taylor Lamontagne leading with 17 kills, followed by Adriana DeJesus and Amme Mobley contributing significantly with 10 and six kills, respectively. On the defensive side, Ryann Prince demonstrated a strong presence with three blocks, while Alana Garcia managed to secure 20 digs. The match also featured impressive serving, with Raphaela Felisberto making three aces and a high tally of 35 assists.

Head Coach Obed Quiles shared the following after the game, ' We failed to execute tonight. We need to be better. We have an important conference opponent on Saturday, and we need to turn our focus to that.' vs. Life

In a vital regular-season conference matchup on September 13, 2025, the Brewton-Parker Barons volleyball team faced off against Life University at the Upper Gym. Despite a vigorous effort, the Barons were unable to secure a win, falling in straight sets to the Running Eagles.

The first set saw Life University taking a dominant lead, culminating in a 25-13 win over the Barons. The following sets were back and forth; however, Life managed to maintain their lead with scores of 2520 in the second set and 25-22 in the third set, sealing their victory.

Key players for Brewton- Parker included Ryann Prince, who led the team with seven kills, followed by Taylor Lamontagne and Adriana De Jesus, each with six kills. On the defensive end, Amme Mobley and Ryann Prince each registered a block. Raphaela Felisberto led the team's digging efforts with eight digs, complemented by Alana Garcia with seven digs and Adriana De Jesus with four. Raphaela Felisberto contributed two aces. Reflecting on the team's performance, Head Coach Obed Quiles commented, 'We performed better today than last Thursday. There were a lot of positive things to take from the game.
