Hood, Mitchell Indicted by Toombs County Grand Jury

Mitchell Other Indictments Kidnapping Suspect Billy Otis Hood and Burglary Suspect Reginald Rayjon Mitchell are two of the sixteen individuals who were indicted by the Toombs County Grand Jury on Tuesday, July 8.
Hood was indicted on a single kidnapping charge for his attempt at taking a child from a home in Lyons on May 5. On this date, A young boy and girl were playing outside of a home in Lyons when a man approached them. The man, later identified as Billy Otis Hood, grabbed the little girl, put his hand over her mouth, and told her not to scream. The little boy immediately jumped into action and ran inside to tell his grandmother about the incident.
When the boy ran inside to tell an adult, Hood dropped the young girl and fled from the scene. Lyons Police Officers soon located Hood and arrested him, charging him with kidnapping and battery.
The little girl sustained no injuries. Hood will now begin the process of declaring an official plea to the court to determine his next steps in the judicial system.
Reginald Rayjon Mitchell was also indicted by the Toombs Grand Jury on charges of smash and grab burglary for his actions on February 23.
Brown’s Jewelry had several diamond rings and a set of flatware dishes stolen on early Sunday morning, February 23.
According to Brown’s Jewelry Owner Kristin Edkin, the suspect is believed to have come across the railroad tracks near the former Tappa’s restaurant to the parking lot in Meadows Park. He then appears to have walked in the alley beside the former Floating Axe location and back around in a circle during his attempt to break into the business. Surveillance footage of the suspect has been recorded in several of these areas.
The suspect busted the glass of the door and the case which held the rings, leaving his hand bloody and dripping throughout the store.
The suspect was determined to be Mitchell, who was also previously indicted on charges of burglary (smash and grab) and theft by taking for the burglary of jewelry from K.E. Butler & Co. Jewelers on March 15 and a burglary of home on Thompson Street in Vidalia between August 2, 2022, and August 23, 2022.
Mitchell will now submit a formal plea to the court, which will determine whether he will prepare for trial or a sentencing. Furnishing Prohibited Items to Inmates Adan Cisheros, Bennie Jymelle Houston, and Depree Cannon Parks were indicted for furnishing prohibited items to an inmate.
According to the indictment, these three individuals delivered packages of tobacco to Rogers State Prison Farm, giving them to a Rogers State Prison inmate between December 12, 2023, and December 13, 2023 without Warden Tracy Page’s approval.
These individuals will now enter a formal plea to the court.
Other true bills of indictments returned by the Grand Jury were: Nathan Wayman Ward – sexual exploitation of children (5 counts); criminal attempt to commit child molestation Pashaad Jihad Bethea – theft by receiving stolen property; driving while license suspended Mashia Michelle Ste phenson – terroristic threats Joshua Dean Cook – criminal damage to property in the second degree; burglary in the second degree; theft by taking Adrian Jivon McClel lan – sexual contact by employee or agent in the first degree Rodney Jacob Lind sey – failure to register as a sex offender Chandler Blaine Thompson – theft by taking; burglary in the first degree; aggravated stalking Willie Henry Brantley – failure to register as a sex offender; criminal attempt to commit child molestation Kawame Cedrin Coleman – theft by taking Alfreddie Mobley, Jr. – aggravated assault; possession of a firearm by a convicted felon William Daniel Con ner, Jr. – burglary in the first degree These individuals will now continue within the judicial process by entering a formal court plea, which will determine if they go to trial or sentencing.
