Heritage Splits Final 2 Games
The Eagles of Vidalia Heritage Academy wrapped up their regular season last week with a pair of games against Coastal HomeSchool and Bulloch Academy. VHA took the win over Coastal, but dropped their game with Bulloch. vs. Coastal
It was a big first inning for the Eagles as they scored eight runs in the top of the first inning to take control of the game. VHA added a run in the third inning for a 9-0 lead.
Coastal got on the board in the bottom of the third with three runs, but VHA plated one run in the top of the fourth, another in the fifth, and one more in the sixth as they pushed their lead to 12-3. The Eagles put two more on the board in the top of the seventh inning to take a 14-3 lead.
Coastal managed to score two runs in the bottom of the final inning, but fell well short as VHA took the win, 14-5.
Greer Posey led the way for RTCA with 3 hits and 4 RBIs. Maddyx Herrin added 3 hits and 3 RBIs, and Juddson Wilkes picked up 3 hits in the game. vs. Bulloch
Against the Gators of Bulloch Academy, VHA played well, but fell in extra innings to the larger school.
Neither team could get much going early in the game with VHA finally scoring the first run in the top of the fifth inning. Bulloch quickly answered in the bottom of the frame to tie the game at 1-1.
VHA again took the lead, this time in the top of the seventh with two runs, giving the Eagles a 3-1 lead heading to the bottom of the seventh. But Bulloch answered and plated two of their own to tie the game at 3-3, and send it to extra innings.
In the top of the eighth, VHA took the lead back with a run, putting Heritage on top, 4-3. But in the bottom of the eighth, Bulloch scored two runs to take the win over the Eagles, 5-4.
Heritage finishes the regular season with a record of 10-13, and they were 3-6 in Region play. They will now head into the GIAA State Playoffs. They will host Covenant Academy in a best-ofthree series beginning on Friday with a double header at 2:00 p.m. If necessary, they will play a third game on Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
