Treutlen Falls To Telfair In McRae

The Treutlen County High School football team fell to Telfair County on Thursday night of last week in McRae. Telfair was up 8-0 at the end of the first quarter and with 8:07 left in the second quarter the Vikings had a punt blocked with the Trojans picking the ball up at the 20-yard line. Treutlen was able to stop them on defense, but Telfair got the ball back deep in the Vikings territory after another turnover. Telfair went in for another touchdown with 4:38 left. They added the two-point conversion to make it 16-0. Later in the first half Qamar Jordan went in for a score, but the play was called back on a penalty. The Vikings kept working the ball, and Da'maurion Thomas got it down to the 1-yard line but was not able to punch it in.

Telfair scored again with 3:54 to play in the third quarter on a 23-yard run. They added another score from 31 yards out for a 28-0 lead.

With 5:43 left in the game, the Vikings finally got on the board when Jordan went in from two yards out. That play was set up by a 54-yard run by Jordan. Chris Mincey added the extra point to make it 28-7.

Neither team scored over the last five minutes of the game as Telfair took the win 28-7. The Vikings are now 1-3 on the season and are 0-2 in Region play.

Treutlen is off this week and will be back in action next Friday when they host rival Wheeler County at 7:30 p.m.
