Bicycle vs. Truck in Lyons

A bicyclist was injured after being hit by a pickup truck on Tuesday morning, July 14, at a Lyons intersection.

Mathew Maltby was riding along the roadway and attempting to evade dogs that were chasing him when he ran the stop sign at the intersection of W. Oglethorpe Avenue and N. Victory Drive, and was hit by Rickey Edge’s pickup truck, which was traveling through the intersection.

Maltby was taken to Memorial Health Meadows Hospital by ambulance to be treated for non-life threatening injuries. Edge was not hurt in the collision.

When asked about the accident, Edge explained that he did not see Maltby until it was too late, making the accident unavoidable.
