Vidalia City Schools has once again received the prestigious Award for Excellence from the Georgia Department of Audits and Accounts, marking an impressive eleven consecutive years of this distinguished achievement. This award recognizes outstanding financial reporting by school systems across Georgia.
“I am honored to receive this award on behalf of Vidalia City Schools,” said Norma Croft, Finance Director for the Vidalia City School System. “I am incredibly thankful for our entire finance team. This award would not have been possible without each of them and their hard work and dedication. We have four exceptional bookkeepers, an outstanding Accounts Payable specialist, a fantastic HR/Payroll Manager, and our dedicated School Food Service Bookkeeper.”
The Award for Excellence aims to highlight outstanding performance in financial reporting and controls. According to Croft, it encourages governmental organizations to exceed the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and recognizes those that successfully meet this high standard.
Dr. Sandy Reid, Superintendent of Vidalia City Schools, praised the Finance Department for its dedication to upholding outstanding financial practices. “This award shows just how hard Norma and her staff work within the guidelines set by the state. To receive this recognition for eleven consecutive years is truly remarkable! This award emphasizes our system’s dedication to financial excellence and continued success.”
“We couldn’t be prouder of their efforts and are grateful to have such a cohesive team ensuring that both state and taxpayers’ finances are managed responsibly,” added Dr. Reid.
The ongoing recognition not only serves as a testament to the Finance Department's hard work but also highlights Vidalia City Schools’ commitment to transparency.
