Game 1

When the teams finally took the field for Game 1 on Saturday evening, DEA struck first, blasting a solo home run to center field in the bottom of the first inning. Vidalia Heritage settled in and answered in the top of the third when Pearson O’Neal put a ball in play to tie the game at 1-1. The turning point arrived late in the contest. In the bottom of the sixth, DEA loaded the bases and capitalized on the opportunity, pushing four runs across on a walk, a sacrifice, and an RBI double to take a commanding 5-1 lead. VHA managed to string together two runs in the top of the seventh, but the late rally fell short as they dropped the opener, 5- 3.

Game 2 Sunday afternoon brought the conclusion to the series. Despite a brilliant effort on the mound from Jake Adams, VHA couldn't force a decisive Game 3. Adams was dominant for five and two-thirds innings, racking up 12 strikeouts and allowing just four hits. However, the Eagles' defense struggled behind him, committing four costly errors that ultimately proved the difference.

DEA got on the board first again in the top of the second inning, taking a 1-0 lead after a hit-by-pitch with the bases loaded. Vidalia Heritage answered loudly in the bottom of the third when Trevor White launched a two-run home run, giving VHA a 2-1 advantage and shifting the momentum. Unfortunately for Heritage, the lead didn't hold. DEA tied it up in the top of the fifth on an RBI double, then pushed across the deciding two runs in the top of the seventh to take a 4-2 lead. VHA couldn't get anything going in the bottom half of the inning, dropping the game and the series.

While the weekend ended in frustration, the program's foundation remains incredibly solid. The Eagles will graduate just two seniors from this year’s Final 4 squad, returning a battle-tested roster next spring. With the sting of this weekend fresh on their minds, expect VHA to enter next season with the talent and experience to make another deep playoff run.
