Two Year- Old Dies In Fatal Accident

Blue ribbons are being hung throughout Vidalia, as the community mourns the death of a two yearold boy, who passed away after being struck by a vehicle while playing in his yard.

Johnson informed hospital staff of the details of the accident, leading staff to inform the Vidalia Police Department of the incident. Officers spoke with Johnson while at the hospital, and turned the case over to the Toombs County Sheriff’s Office for investigation of the incident. Toombs County Sheriff Jordan Kight also requested assistance in the investigation from the Georgia State Patrol because of the case involving a death caused by a motor vehicle.

After speaking with Johnson and Wright through preliminary investigation interviews, the Toombs County Sheriff’s Office stated that the incident appears to be accidental.

“We would like to thank the Vidalia Police Department and the Georgia State Patrol Post 19 – Reidsville for their assistance. We ask that you please keep the Johnson family and friends in your thoughts and prayers as they navigate through this difficult time,” Sheriff Kight remarked. Several community members shared their heartbreak regarding the accident, and many businesses and homes donned blue ribbons to remember this young life cut short.

The Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is working alongside the Sheriff’s Office to continue investigating the incident.
