On Monday, January 5, Madison-Harswell and Simons were sworn in by City Attorney Paul Calhoun, who also issued an oath to Xandra Brown as she reaffirmed her commitment as council member, marking the beginning of her third term.
Family, friends, and local residents were in attendance as each official took their oath. Council Member Madison-Harswell will now represent District 1 and Councilman Simons will represent District 3 and returning Council Member Brown will continue to represent District 4.
Mayor John Koon commented on the new additions to the council, as he remarked, “I am excited to have Andy, and Kendra as part of our team. Both are quality people and love the City of Soperton. I look forward to having them on our team and the knowledge they bring to help our team achieve our goals of making Soperton even better than it is. Of course, Xandra continuing as our Mayor ProTem is a true blessing. Her knowledge and experience are unmatched and her relationship with the citizens is beyond great. I as Mayor could not be prouder of the team that has been assembled, and the citizens can be sure that we are going to provide the best service possible.'
